COMMITMENT TO EQUALITY

Action Against Hunger is committed to equality and is dedicated to contributing to effective equality between women and men.

To achieve this, we have the necessary tools to fulfill this commitment:

  • Gender Equality Policy (international network): This policy establishes the institutional framework and the principles that guide the integration of gender equality across all areas of Action Against Hunger at a global level, defining what we do and our common commitments as an organization.
  • Gender Equality Strategy (Spain and missions): This strategy operationalizes the policy at both national and international levels, defining how gender equality is implemented institutionally and programmatically. It establishes the Gender Minimum Standards and is structured through several mechanisms:
  • Gender and Protection Focal Points at headquarters and missions: Individuals responsible for providing technical support on gender and protection throughout the organization, both programmatically and institutionally. Their main functions include supporting the implementation of the gender equality policy and strategy, mitigating gender-based violence, applying the Gender Minimum Standards, internal coordination, external representation, and strengthening partnerships and communication.
  • Gender Working Groups: Teams responsible for implementing gender action plans transversally at all levels of the organization.
  • Headquarters Equality Plan (in compliance with Royal Decree 901/2020): This plan establishes concrete measures to guarantee equal treatment and opportunities between women and men, as well as to prevent any type of discrimination in the workplace. See the Action Against Hunger Equality Plan 2022–2025.
  • Equality Committee: The body responsible for coordinating, supervising, and monitoring the implementation of the Equality Plan at headquarters, ensuring its continuous evaluation and compliance.
  • People management policies: These policies ensure equal treatment and effective opportunities throughout the entire employee lifecycle.
