RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION
We generate strong evidence and effective solutions to save, protect and improve the lives of people and
The persistence of child malnutrition, rising humanitarian needs and challenges such as natural resource management in a context of climate change, require new solutions and ways of working to be more efficient and cost-effective.
Through our research and innovation, we develop better ways to anticipate, prevent and treat malnutrition so that more children can lead healthy, productive lives and more communities can be free from hunger. We also strive to respond effectively to new challenges in the humanitarian sector.
Our approach combines science with practice, giving us the tools we need to create tangible change, even in the most challenging contexts. Our aim is to apply research within our own organisation, using a scientific, participatory and ethical approach.
OUR APPROACH
Through research, development and innovation we aim to assess and increase the effectiveness, scalability and sustainability of our programmes to address malnutrition, and improve our ability to protect communities, households and children.
OUR RESEARCH STRATEGY
INTEGRATES FOUR KEY COMPONENTS
Hunger is constantly evolving and requires us to evolve our operational capacities and methodologies to address humanitarian needs based on solid evidence.
We promote a broad network of contacts and engage with communities, public entities, donors, the private sector, implementing partners and scientific organisations, providing expertise, research capacity and resources to deliver quality research.
We provide systematised manuals, tools and training modules to conduct research effectively, efficiently and sustainably.
We maximise the use and appropriation of the evidence and knowledge generated, reducing the gap between the results of scientific research and the implementation of the results.
OUR RESEARCH AGENDA
Three main lines of work aimed at
achieving optimal coverage of prevention, early detection and treatment services
To increase nutritional care, household resilience and access to basic services through innovative actions. These are our three lines of work:
