HEALTHY LIVES
A line of research aimed at optimising and simplifying nutritional treatment, making it easier, shorter, less costly and more effective.
With a particular focus on child malnutrition, a priority public health problem that contributes to half of all child mortality.
We research for Health.
With the aim of optimising and simplifying nutritional treatment.
PRIORITIES
- Build evidence on how to simplify and facilitate early nutritional diagnosis and impact on coverage.
- Demonstrate and evaluate the impact and cost-effectiveness of strengthening community health workers to deliver effective essential services and nutritional care to the community.
- Search for more cost-effective local alternative formulations of RUTF (ready-to-use therapeutic food).
- Identify social impact and coverage barriers to accessing essential services and care. With a special focus on the management of child wasting by community health workers.
- Develop a framework of actions for the first 1,000 days of life (prevention of low birth weight, stunting, stimulation, psychosocial, etc.).
- Identify the role of poor WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) conditions in post-treatment relapse.
