Hope 4 Gaza: the international campaign that transformed thousands of messages into hope for Gaza

More than 2,500 messages of hope and support cross borders to accompany families in Gaza

In 2025, Action Against Hunger launched a campaign born from the heart of Gaza: Hope for Gaza. We asked the world to send messages of encouragement, solidarity, and compassion for our teams to share with families in Gaza. More than 2,500 messages arrived.

Hope for Gaza brought the world closer to Gaza – not as spectators, but as people.

It became a global effort. Colleagues across the occupied Palestinian territory, as well as teams in Spain, Lebanon, the United Kingdom, the United States, Italy, and Germany, came together to reveal what has always been at the core of our work: humanity.

“In the darkest hour, a star will gleam. A fragile light, a steadfast dream.”

“My heart is with you. I often weep inwardly, but you are strong.”

“May the days come when your children grow up in peace and your dreams are no        longer overshadowed by fear.”

Throughout 2025, every message was read and translated. Our teams prepared 2,500 cards to be hand-delivered alongside food packages.

Yet the operating environment in Gaza made this impossible. Access restrictions, insecurity, and obstacles to the entry of humanitarian aid tried to prevent us from delivering not only lifesaving assistance but also hope.

We adapted. When aid delivery was blocked, humanity was not. To ensure these voices of support were not lost, we transformed the campaign into a  digital archive accessible to all. This archive preserves thousands of messages of solidarity meant for families in Gaza. Rather than let them disappear, we tried to protect them publicly and permanently. Hope was written, translated, carried, and remembered.

In November and December 2025, Action Against Hunger teams in the Gaza Strip were finally able to deliver more than 1,000 messages in person. Printed notes were pasted onto hot meal distribution packages, proof that humanity can cross borders, blockades, and distance.

For Action Against Hunger, hope is forever a part of our work, never separate from it. And through Hope for Gaza, thousands of people proved that even a simple message can restore strength and the belief that better days are still possible.
