Social project event “Beauty Without Boundaries” held in Batumi, Georgia
On Sunday, Action Against Hunger attended the opening of a social project "Beauty Without Boundaries” that it has funded under the European Union project “Empowering civil society to increase gender equality and counter gender-based violence in Georgia” led by the NGO “Center for Information and Counseling on Reproductive Health – Tanadgoma” in collaboration with other local partner organisations.
Rusudan Shervashidze, a former Batumi Shuttle participant initiated the project with the goal of promoting the social inclusion of persons with disabilities and to raise public awareness on disability. By challenging stigmas and stereotypes, it aims to foster motivation for collaboration among project beneficiaries and other interested parties. As part of this project, all participants took part in a professional photo shoot, creating large-print photographs that were displayed at this event.
This collaborative event demonstrated excellent synergies with other Shuttle participants and corporate volunteers. Irma Kiladze, former Shuttle participant provided support throughout the organisation of the event. While Darina (Dadu) Gabaidze who had previously worked as a corporate volunteer at the Shuttle took the photos of the participants at the “eucaliptus” photo studio. Also Marine Khinkiladze, a seamstress and former Shuttle participant, who had received a small business grant, made the accessories for the photoshoot and Natia Mskhaladze, did the makeup. The event was also supported by, Gulnara Beridze, a Georgian sign language interpreter.
At the end of the event, all participants of the photoshoot were gifted the prints of their photos. We would like to thank Batumi University of Art for hosting such an impactful event.
