5-day Training of Coaches in Armenia equips new coaches on Shuttle Methodology

News

From February 24 to 28, 2025, Action Against Hunger conducted a 5-day Training of Coaches (ToC) on the Shuttle methodology, in Dilijan town, located in Tavush province, Armenia. This week of training was led by Lela Maisuradze, Action Against Hunger South Caucasus’ Social Inclusion Manager, and aimed to provide theoretical and practical knowledge of the methodology to new coaches and representatives from the organisations Loft Ijevan and Youth Cooperation Center of Dilijan. The Social Inclusion Manager was supported in this work by Silva Mesropyan, Certified Management Consultant, who facilitated practical case studies.

The training is part of a 10-month pilot programme in Tavush province aimed at supporting the socio-economic inclusion and employment of youth, refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh, and vulnerable groups within the local community. This pilot programme is implemented with financial support from the Embassy of the French Republic in Armenia and focuses on developing the capacities and skills of young people to enhance their competitiveness in the labour market, and promote their socio-economic engagement within the community.

Since the Shuttle methodology has been developed to support personal and professional growth, new techniques and methods were presented that the coaches can apply within the programme. An important part of the ToC is the practical application of the skills acquired and the sharing of experience. This allows the participants to gain a deeper understanding on the application of the Shuttle methodology in different contexts and with different groups.

Besides providing an introduction to the methodology, information was provided on Action Against Hunger’s ethical framework and the responsibility of partners, principles that are important when fostering social inclusion and developing entrepreneurship and employment skills for vulnerable groups

At the end of the ToC, everyone was presented with a certificate. The coaches will now run 2 Shuttles over a five-month period in Ijevan and Dilijan and will be further supported in this work by the Action Against Hunger team. We are looking forward to working in cooperation with the 2 youth centres and the coaches over the next few months!
