VOLUNTEERING
At Action Against Hunger we have different forms of volunteering
THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO COLLABORATE WITH US, AND ONE OF THE OPPORTUNITIES WE OFFER IS VOLUNTEERING
At Action Against Hunger we have different ways of volunteering, so that you can find the collaboration formula that best suits your experience and interest and can help us in our daily work, dedicating part of your time to the common goal of combating the consequences and causes of malnutrition.
If you are interested in humanitarian aid, are between 18 and 35 years old, have European citizenship or long term residence in Europe and want to collaborate in our Missions, HERE you will find all the information about how to participate in our programme, funded by the European Commission, European Humanitarian Aid Volunteers. You can also write to us at: euav@accioncontraelhambre.org.
We also have a wide network of volunteers who collaborate with the organisation at our headquarters in Madrid and at the delegations in Catalonia, Navarre, Asturias, Galicia, the Basque Country, Extremadura, Andalusia, Castilla la Mancha, Valencia, Madrid and Murcia, offering their time and knowledge altruistically in our different working areas: awareness-raising activities, support for different departments at our offices, etc. For more information about volunteering opportunities in Spain, you can contact the Headquarters office directly (the Training Department or the Department that most closely matches your interest and experience) and the Delegation office in your area.
In compliance with the right to training so that volunteers can carry out the functions assigned to them, Action Against Hunger's Training Department provides them with various training resources.
* We understand ‘volunteer’ in the sense established in Law 45/2015, of 14 October, on Volunteering:
- They must be charitable in nature.
- The activity is not carried out by virtue of an employment, civil servant, mercantile or any other relationship for financial or material consideration. They act free of charge, not because of by any personal obligation or legal duty, and do so voluntarily.
- They act without financial or material consideration, without prejudice to the payment of reimbursable expenses incurred by volunteers in carrying out the voluntary action, in accordance with the provisions of Article 12.2.d. (The system of reimbursable expenses to be paid to volunteers, in accordance with the voluntary action to be carried out.)
- They act through volunteer organisations in accordance with specific programmes, within or outside Spanish territory. Isolated or sporadic actions carried out outside voluntary organisations, motivated by family reasons, friendship or good neighbourliness, will therefore not be considered as volunteering activities. The social collaboration work referred to in Royal Decree 1445/1982 of 25 June 1982, which regulates various employment promotion measures. Internships with or without provision of services whose main objective is training. Non-work placements at companies and external academic placements.
Voluntary activities shall be considered to be those which result in the carrying out of concrete and specific actions, without being integrated into global or long-term programmes, provided that they are carried out through a voluntary organisation. Likewise, those carried out through information and communication technologies and which do not require the physical presence of the volunteers in the volunteering entities shall also be considered as such.
In the last three years, Action Against Hunger has had a total of 34 volunteers.
