What is happening in Action Against Hunger, South Caucasus, in August
Active Farmers Groups undergo training in Abkhazia
In Abkhazia, a selection committee has chosen 11 Active Farmers Groups - an informal cooperative composed of a minimum of 3 families – that will now undergo a 3-day training. With the support of an external trainer, they will learn how to prepare a business plan that they will submit as the final application for grant funding. In total, Action Against Hunger South Caucasus, will fund 5 Active Farmers Groups under this UNHCR-funded programme.

15 schools to have water and sanitation facilities to be rehabilitated
Also in Abkhazia, companies were selected for the first phase of the “Development of WASH Facilities and Services in Schools” project funded by UNICEF. After the approval, contracts were signed, and construction and rehabilitation work have begun in the 5 schools. Within the framework of the same project, AAH engineers have completed the Bill of Quantities and design for the second phase (also for 5 schools) and a tender advertisement has been announced. Later this month, the successful building companies will be contracted. The AAH engineers have already started the design for the final five schools in the third phase, and once completed, the next tender will be announced.

Videos being finalised on social protection and welfare support for displaced families
In Armenia, our team has produced four videos within the framework of “Ensuring access to essential protection services for displaced people from Nagorno Karabakh in Armenia” programme. These videos provide a snapshot of the work of Action Against Hunger and its partners supporting displaced people from Nagorno Karabakh from the perspective of specialists, children, and parents. At the end of the month, they will be shared more widely in our communications channels.
