Second ‘Shuttle’ methodology workshop for public actors in West Georgia
The workshop was conducted within the framework of the project "Economic and Social Participation of Vulnerable Displaced and Local Population in the South Caucasus (EPIC)" funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons form the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia (MoH). This workshop was also supported by State Employment Support Agency (SESA) and Professional Skills Agency (PSA).
Practical exercises taught participants how to best use the "Shuttle" approach.
Participants from SESA’s Zugdidi branch and staff of the Shota Meskhia State Teaching University learned how the techniques of the ‘Shuttle’ approach support inclusion through the development of beneficiaries’ professional and personal competences. “I heard about that programme, because I am also a coach working with NGOs, but I did not know the methodology details. I have learned many things” says Salome Guguchia from the State Employment Support Agency. “It’s an integration of non-formal education with formal education, we see how to make it possible” says Anastasia Tsitashvili from Shota Meskhia State Teaching University. “For the first time, non-formal education comes to the state programme, it’s recommended by the State for the universities to implement it” adds Manana Samushia, also from the university. “This programme also includes entrepreneurship skills and encouragement, that is why I think it will have good results here” she adds.
The “Shuttle” approach has been successfully used across the South Caucasus region since 2015 by AAH.
