Action Against Hunger initiates transfer of its ‘Shuttle’ methodology to support Georgian state actors
Action Against Hunger (AAH) South Caucasus hosted a 5-day workshop in Tbilisi, Georgia on its innovative and inclusive ‘Shuttle’ approach.
Between the 13th and 20th June 2022, Action Against Hunger (AAH) South Caucasus hosted a 5-day workshop in Tbilisi, Georgia on its innovative and inclusive ‘Shuttle’ approach. This was the first of two trainings for representatives of state educational and employment agencies and VET colleges in Georgia, with the second workshop being held in West Georgia at the end of June.
Practical exercises taught participants how to best use the "Shuttle" approach.
The workshop was conducted within the framework of the project "Economic and Social Participation of Vulnerable Displaced and Local Population in the South Caucasus (EPIC)" funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons form the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia (MoH). This workshop was also supported by State Employment Support Agency (SESA) and Professional Skills Agency (PSA).
Participants from SESA, the PSA, and the Vocational Education College “Modusi” learned how the techniques of the ‘Shuttle’ approach support inclusion through the development of beneficiaries’ professional and personal competences. The approach has been successfully used across the South Caucasus region since 2015 by AAH to support employability and entrepreneurial skills development of unemployed people, with a specific focus on women, youth, people with disabilities and displaced persons. During the training, the participants received formal instruction from the AAH trainer, and they engaged in group activities and practical exercises that taught them how to best use this approach. Following these trainings, SESA and the VET colleges will pilot the approach in both East and West Georgia with the continuous support of AAH staff.
